Through the lens – and below the sea

ABOUT THE TOPIC

The ocean is by far the largest habitat on Earth – and yet we know very little about the underwater world. In his impressive photo and video lecture, marine biologist and research diver Uli Kunz takes us on his adventurous dives and provides fascinating insights into his work. He recounts spectacular expeditions in which he dives to unique underwater columns off Greenland, visits a whale graveyard under thick ice and encounters the ancient Greenland shark. In tropical coral reefs, he works with marine conservationists and in the dark depths of cold seas, he discovers strange creatures such as slimy worms, venomous jellyfish, and the sea dragon.

With breathtaking images, captivating stories and surprising insights, the underwater photographer reveals the beauty and vulnerability of the underwater world.

He retrieves ghost nets, replants seagrass meadows, and wonders: how can we preserve marine life?
