2025 Enchanted Masquerade of the Deep

While we are rapidly approaching climate tipping points and coral reefs are the forefront, we still have hope that things can change. Festival of Seas 2025: Enchanted Masquerade of the Deep was a sold out event (300 guests) on 1 November 2025 at Hotel Indigo that was the perfect moment and event for CCMI to make several important announcements to those who are heavily invested in our work and success as an organisation. This year, we raised a record breaking amount US $469K and we expanded the goals of outreach, education, and advocacy.

We know that Little Cayman is a special place and that our coral reefs are truly a hidden gem of the Caribbean. We also are profoundly aware that global pressures are having significant impact on coral reefs around the world, and Little Cayman is not immune to the impacts of disease outbreaks and warming oceans. In 2023, we saw the worst bleaching in Little Cayman ever, and the coral die-off reduced cover from 26% to 9%. Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease was recently found in Little Cayman, too. Yet we know from our 28 years of coral monitoring that Little Cayman’s reefs are resilient and they will adapt.

Our reefs are changing, and the need to act for the future of our ocean is greater than ever. Now is the time to double down on local conservation efforts and raise greater awareness than ever before. The masked ball resulted in a fantastic evening – but most importantly, we made significant headway into being more impactful as an organisation. Read about the featured speaker, Uli Kunz.

2024 Coral Reef Horizons

CCMI’s annual gala in 2024 looked toward horizon, the future, and what it means for coral reefs. The heating and disease events of the previous summer (2023) suggest that the impacts of climate change on coral reefs are intensifying. We still have hope for a future for coral reefs, but there is a growing sense of urgency and immediate action required if we are to make the necessary impact. CCMI’s work in research, conservation, and education has never been more important, and your support is needed now more than ever.

2023 Silver Seas: Celebrating 25 Years of CCMI

This year, CCMI’s largest fundraiser for the year, Festival of Seas 2023: Silver Seas was also a celebration of CCMI’s 25 years of work for coral reefs in the Cayman Islands. Having so many of our supporters and stakeholders together with us at this event was very special as we shared in this significant milestone together! With more than 370 guests in attendance and raising more than $250,000, this was CCMI’s largest, most successful gala to date!

2022 Festival of Trees

In 2022, we went ‘old school’ to our supporters’ favourite event, bringing back the Festival of Trees. A seasonally-inspired event, we auctioned off beautifully decorated, gift-ladened trees and wreaths to benefit the organisation. Held on Friday, 18 November 2022, this event was attended by more than 200 of our most engaged supporters in attendance, we had a fun evening together as we raised money to support the critical research, education, and conservation efforts of CCMI.

2021 The Reefs Aglow

Festival of Seas: The Reefs Aglow was our first chance in two years to meet up with many of our supporters, both individuals and corporate entities, and provide an important update about the true impact of CCMI’s efforts in coral resiliency research, education programmes, and conservation projects. Funds raised at Festival of Seas this year help stabilise CCMI against the continued impacts of Covid-19 into 2022. This event is key in supporting: core costs, adaptation and change, and continued funding for projects.
