This year’s Festival of Seas: Masquerade of the Deep is an immersive, ocean-themed gala benefitting CCMI and the research. conservation, and education projects of the organisation. Together, we’ll celebrate the wonder and beauty of the sea while raising critical funds to protect it.
Set against the elegant backdrop of Hotel Indigo, this masquerade-style event combines marine-inspired creativity, conservation storytelling, and community impact. Guests will enjoy fine dining, live entertainment, silent and live auctions, and a masquerade celebration that brings the magic of the sea to life—all in support of vital coral reef research and education initiatives. guest speaker : Uli Kunz
Uli Kunz is a marine biologist, professional diver, photographer, and TV presenter. He has worked on numerous scientific diving expeditions worldwide and is part of the German research diving team Submaris. He is best known for his work in ocean exploration, underwater photography, and public science communication. His enthusiasm for the marine world makes his presentations both educational and highly engaging.
“Why do I do all of this? Why do I take extremely expensive cameras in a metal box into environments which do not treat electronic components well and due to their darkness, the particles, a lack of contrast, the cold and mud are not particularly well suited to photography?
Because as a marine ambassador, through my photos, slide shows and presentations I can give lot of people insight into a world they do not know, and I can promote the protection of our oceans.
Because I love the ocean.”

2024 Coral Reef Horizons
CCMI’s annual gala in 2024 looked toward horizon, the future, and what it means for coral reefs. The heating and disease events of the previous summer (2023) suggest that the impacts of climate change on coral reefs are intensifying. We still have hope for a future for coral reefs, but there is a growing sense of urgency and immediate action required if we are to make the necessary impact. CCMI’s work in research, conservation, and education has never been more important, and your support is needed now more than ever.
2023 Silver Seas: Celebrating 25 Years of CCMI
This year, CCMI’s largest fundraiser for the year, Festival of Seas 2023: Silver Seas was also a celebration of CCMI’s 25 years of work for coral reefs in the Cayman Islands. Having so many of our supporters and stakeholders together with us at this event was very special as we shared in this significant milestone together! With more than 370 guests in attendance and raising more than $250,000, this was CCMI’s largest, most successful gala to date!

2022 Festival of Trees
In 2022, we went ‘old school’ to our supporters’ favourite event, bringing back the Festival of Trees. A seasonally-inspired event, we auctioned off beautifully decorated, gift-ladened trees and wreaths to benefit the organisation. Held on Friday, 18 November 2022, this event was attended by more than 200 of our most engaged supporters in attendance, we had a fun evening together as we raised money to support the critical research, education, and conservation efforts of CCMI.
2021 The Reefs Aglow
Festival of Seas: The Reefs Aglow was our first chance in two years to meet up with many of our supporters, both individuals and corporate entities, and provide an important update about the true impact of CCMI’s efforts in coral resiliency research, education programmes, and conservation projects. Funds raised at Festival of Seas this year help stabilise CCMI against the continued impacts of Covid-19 into 2022. This event is key in supporting: core costs, adaptation and change, and continued funding for projects.
